What direction did slaves try to escape from the south? What were the dangers that slaves faced and the consequences of being caught? My thoughts: If they were caught they were imprisoned! Thats like all i remember hearing about this!

the slaves had face the punishment of running away or was whipped or killed because of the slave codes.the slaves had went up to the far north by maryland because a white man could come up north and take a black man, even if the black man was free he still had to go so they traveled as far north.slaves would do anything to not get caught giving a baby knock out medicine making him go to sleep anything. i hope this help
