I keep getting <64,-24>. Let u = <7, -3>, v = <-9, 5>. Find 4u - 3v. <55, -27> <1, 3> <16, 12> <-8, -6>

@hartnn

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

show us your solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay one moment

OpenStudy (gorv):

> this means ??? are u talking about ..... )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

<7--9,-3-5> which when I multiplied the left by 4 and the right by 3 I got <64,-24>

hartnn (hartnn):

find 4u first u = <7,-3> 4u = <4*7 , 4*(-3)> = ... ?

hartnn (hartnn):

then find 3v v = <-9,5> 3v = <3(-9), 3*5> then subtract them

hartnn (hartnn):

vector notation u =<7,-3> means u = 7i -3j gorv

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So u=<28,-12>, v=<27,-15>?

hartnn (hartnn):

no, thats 4u and -3v

hartnn (hartnn):

so add them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got <4,3>

hartnn (hartnn):

how ?

hartnn (hartnn):

4u -3v = <28+27, -12-15>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean 55,-27

hartnn (hartnn):

then you're correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks so much for the help:)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
