Can someone please explain the basics of what caused the French Revolution?
A political crisis The French population was divided in 3 estates. The first two (the Clergy and the Nobility) concentrated all the powers. The Third estate, which represented the poorest citizen, wanted more rights and the dissolution of the Ancien Regime system. - An economic crisis The tax system was unfair (only the poorest citizen were paying taxes). The king personal spending were huge. The American war of independence cost France a lot while the country already had a huge debt. you should have really just google'd it but whatever
does this help????
yeah, this is great! what you:)
thank*
here is some more if you need it 1. International: struggle for hegemony and Empire outstrips the fiscal resources of the state 2. Political conflict: conflict between the Monarchy and the nobility over the “reform” of the tax system led to paralysis and bankruptcy. 3. The Enlightenment: impulse for reform intensifies political conflicts; reinforces traditional aristocratic constitutionalism, one variant of which was laid out in Montequieu’s Spirit of the Laws; introduces new notions of good government, the most radical being popular sovereignty, as in Rousseau’s Social Contract [1762]; the attack on the regime and privileged class by the Literary Underground of “Grub Street;” the broadening influence of public opinion. 4. Social antagonisms between two rising groups: the aristocracy and the bourgeoisie 5. Ineffective ruler: Louis XVI 6. Economic hardship, especially the agrarian crisis of 1788-89 generates popular discontent and disorders caused by food shortages.
hmmm, so, to paraphrase both answers, there were three classes, and the lowest class, the commoners, were unhappy because of both financial and agricultural crises in addition to the fact that basically the nobles and the clergy were abusing the tax system and the king (Louis XVI) was a bad ruler and spent too much money. Is that all correct?
yeah girl go... and btw all of this stuff is on google no need to ask people
-.- With enough research anything is on google. There is no reason for this website.
In theory of course...
oh forgot people use this as a social media
I forgot or you forgot? If they wanted social media, there are many other platforms to use. This website is primarily one for the sharing of knowledge. The point is, I'm using it for it's intended purpose, to learn things. You're right. I could have looked it up on google, however, usually when I do, I find information that is overly complicated, takes tons of time to read through, or is overly simplified and doesn't contain the information I'm looking for. In addition, if you truly believed that I should have used google, you would have said exactly that instead of humoring me by answering my question. I'm not exactly an idiot, I just really dislike History, so this is what I use this site primarily for. In exchange, I will help people with math or music or something along those lines. Something they probably could have googled, but didn't. To quote The Lion King, "It's the circle of life".
I was not judging..... the answer I gave you was copied and pasted from a site on google... what I meant topics such as the revolution of france.....is kind of a popular topic..... however I think you should practice on finding the answer your self because its really important to know how to do that. you should totally use this a social media because it helps on your social skills. sorry if I offended you... God bless... and um please don't remove my medal
