It's quite hard to say such a thing but I'm sure that if you indentify the mineral then you can very easily identify said property.

This is the place for Social Science, not Geology.  Ask in Geography.  It is the closest.

And Lambert, no.  There are certain physical properties to minerals.  They can have a crystalline structure that can lead to certain cleavage, they can have a color, they can have a streak color, they have a hardness.  There are a couple more.  One of these is the least reliable indicator because it is changeable and wide ranging.
