Which statement best describes the polynomial 5x^2+3x+8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi Welcome to Openstudy! @tara_kenny16 ! do you have the choices?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

where is the statement ?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

Don't have the statements to choose from but we know this is a second degree polynomial (since we have x^2). This is the general formula for a parabola. the x- coordinate for the vertex is -3/10. when ax^2 + bx + c = 0 a = 5, b = 3 and c = 8 using the discriminant b^2 - 4*a*c we find this is negative meaning there is no real solution. a is positive so the parabola opens upward.
