solve each system by substitution
3x - 4y =-5
-x + 2y=3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
whats the question? @cookiimonster27
OpenStudy (anonymous):
one sec
OpenStudy (anonymous):
k

ok got it one sec :P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so you need to solve for x

3x - 4y = -5 <- your solving this
now you need to add 4y to both sides
3x - 4y + 4y = -5 + 4y
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3x = 4y - 5
now divide both sides by 3
3x/3 = 4y-5/3
x = 4/3y + -5/3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x = 4/3 y + -5/3 <- your answer!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
could you help with another @cutelilcigarette

sure

solve each system by linear combination
-x + 4y = -1
2x - y = 5.5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so your solving for X for both of these equations
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
solving for x -> -x + 4y = -1
add -4y to both sides
-x + 4y + -4y = -1 + -4y
-x = -4y - 1
now divide both sides by -1
-x/-1 = -4y-1/-1
your answer will be x = 4y + 1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats for the first equation

is that using linear combination?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes because your solving for x @cookiimonster27 these are equations
OpenStudy (anonymous):
for question 2 now your solving x for 2x - y = 5.5
you need to add y to both sides
2x - y + y = 5.5 + y
2x = y + 5.5
now divide both sides by 2
2x/2 = y+5.5/2
and your answer comes out to x = 1/2 y + 2.75
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok i was just wondering
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thank you
