2x^2 - xy -3y^2 factor HELP PLSS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x ^{2}-xy-3y ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, if we multiply the first and last coefficients then see what factors add to the middle .... we should be on good grounds

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2(-3y^2) = -6y^2 factor it into 2 parts that add up to -1y

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-3y and 2y seems good sooo (x-3y/2)(x+2y/2) then simplify the fractions and if theres still a bottom, stick it out front
