is the given function one-one? f(x)=2x-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What definition of one to one are you working with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i did it right i get the inverse of 8-2y=f^-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i think it is one-one using the line test

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i typed in the wrong question i wanted to ask. thanks though

The inverse is off by a little. If you start with $$y=2x-8$$and solve for x, you'll notice that you wont be multiplying by 2 anymore like you have. You'll be dividing by 2 instead.
