If the displacement is positive, what does that tell me about the acceleration?

OpenStudy (espex):

It doesn't tell you anything about the current state of the object, but for an object to move, how is acceleration related?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Acceleration would be the speed, I mean I guess to move you would need a speed?

OpenStudy (espex):

A positive displacement tells you that it had to have been accelerated, perhaps even still being accelerated, because an object cannot move without a force acting upon it, which is a mass * acceleration.

I suppose that makes sense, thank you!
