Describe a method you can use to find the area of the following shape. Provide specific details in your answer, including coordinates and descriptions of shapes used. Then, find the actual area of the figure.
& i have this so far as an answer but i feel that i have something wrong.. Im going to join AC and FC. Which will make triangle ABC and triangle AFC. it will leave trapezoid FEDC. Area of triangle ABC A= 1/2bh A=1/2 x 3 x 4 A= 6 Area of triangle AFC A=1/2bh A=1/2 x 3 x 3 A=4.5 now i found out that i can do 4 triangles.
so it would be triangle ABC, AFC, FCE & ECD & i would like to know the Area of ECD would be 3 right ?
i did this so it wont be so hard...
Looks like the optimal division.
what do i do, divide ?
You add all the individual areas into one.
i dont know how to do that...can you show me how ? i just divided the figure into 4 and you want me to join them again ?
After you divided the shape into triangles, find the area of each triangle, then add the areas together to find what the main one equals to.
|dw:1412005263195:dw|
\[A_{shape} = A_1+A_2+A_3+A_4\]
so far i found that triangle ABC has an area of , AFC has an area of 4.5, i think that ECD has an area of 3 & then i dont know how to get area of triangle FCE...
ABC area of 6
\[Area = \frac{ Height \times Base}{ 2 }\]
\[A_{abc}=\frac{ 3 \times 9 }{ 2 } = 13.5\]
i have a question how did u get 9 ?
What is the length of the base of ABC?
Oooooooooh i seee. its 9 :o
& the 3 was because u went 3 times to the left ?
Yes, the triangle is just flipped counter clockwise.
