Hospitals produce an extraordinary amount of plastic waste. To reduce the size of the plastic waste, the plastic is burned in incinerators. Which of the following is a negative effect that this practice has on the environment? It reduces the amount of final waste product that needs to be discarded. The burning plastic produces harmful fumes as a by-product. Electricity is produced from the burning of plastic waste products. This decreases the degradation time of the plastic waste product.
