shade left if the inequality sign is LESS THEN (<) shade right if the inequality sign is GREATER THEN (>) to prove this must be done....we get - 16 > 4x rearrange inequality and we get x < -4 3(x + 2) < 2(x - 1) = 3x + 6 < 2x - 2 subtract 2x on both sides and get : x + 6 < -2 subtract 6 and get : x < - 8 graph would be an OPEN circle on -8 with shading to the LEFT
