PLEASE SHOW ME HOW TO FIGURE IT OUT If a sample of 51 employees were taken from a population of 606 employees, s^2 could refer to the variance of how many of the employees' salaries? A. 606 B. Both 51 and 606 C. 51 D. Neither 51 nor 606

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Do you know what the symbol s stands for in the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes s^2 is the sample variance

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Correct. The sample variance is calculated using the sample mean, however the population variance is calculated using the population mean. Therefore does it seem reasonable to use the sample variance in relation to the population variance?
