fractions tend to complicate things which is why I don't like them when you have an equation with fractions in it, you can eliminate them. To do that, you need to multiply both sides by the LCD

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the LCD of 2/3x - y = 2 is 3 so multiply both sides of 2/3x - y = 2 by three to clear out the fraction

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do the same for x + 1/2y = -3 but now you use 2 instead (since that is the LCD for this equation)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

tell me what you get

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do you get when you multiply both sides of 2/3x - y = 2 by three

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you made an error when you multiplied 2/3x by 3
