sqrt(2x+51)-8=x

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

add 8 to both sides then square both sides \[\sqrt{2x + 51} = x + 8\] now squaring gives \[(\sqrt{2x + 51})^2 = (x + 8)^2\] then \[2x + 51 = x^2 = 16x + 64\] collect like terms and solve for x.

thank you!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

oops should be \[2x +51 = x^2 + 16x + 64\]
