Jean needs 1/3 cup of walnuts for each serving of salad she makes. She has 2 cups of walnuts. How many servings can she make?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, there will be three thirds in every cup, yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. I know the answer is 6 servings. I just don't know how to show my work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 servings because each cup of walnuts has 3 servings since there are 3 thirds in each cup, therefore 2*3 = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh i see well lets set it up like this:\[1/3n=2\] solving for n gets you your answer, n being the number of servings.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i set that up in fractions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I got it. Thank you!!!
