Those who have been doing the probsets, how long are people generally taking to do them? Particularly from probset2 onwards.
I have to admit that designing takes me in the order of an hour maiking it run usually also debugging even longer ps1 took me a full day ps2 which I'm working on right now will probably take me several days
cool thanks. the hangman prob took me a whole day alone
Good to know, I'm not alone in taking so long, even when I have a reasonable idea of how to tackle the problem it takes quite a while to convert the algorithm to debugged code
as long as it needs
The latest one I did, #3, took me about seven hours. (Wordgame.) Was wondering how everyone else was faring on these.
each part took me about that long ps3a: 8 hour-ish ps3b: 9 hour-ish I loose most time on testing and debugging in ps3b i lost hours trying to make combinations until i figured out that the help code also included that function it was a good brush up of my permutations and combination math, though checking with the solutions is not included I found that ps3bsol had an ident wrong (see attachment)
the else should be at the same level as the if
Ah. I was having problems running ps3bsol for some reason, wonder if that's related. It would just get stuck at showing me the computer's hand, but I did edit it to comment out some stuff and might've accidently deleted something. Have you taken the first quiz yet? I failed horribly on it. It's hard to score properly as well, but even with giving points for partial answers I got something around a D+/C-. Without partial points, it'd probably just be a straight F.
No, I haven't done that yet I have to watch lecture 8 and recitation 4 and lecture 9 after that I intend to revise Unit9 do de practise quiz and have a look at the vs 2008 quiz1 sample problems and only then will I give quiz1 a go, especially now I see people being shocked about its difficulty
I was also having problems to the solutions in problem set 3, problems 6b and 6c. Most problems sets have taken me several hours to complete on average, but I haven't been doing them continuously.
