It was D. "the water pitcher reaching for the platter of spaghetti" That would mean that the water pitcher was reaching for the platter of spaghetti, but how could a water pitcher move? Let alone reach for anything. So, the answer would be D. It would have to be something more of the lines like this - "During dinner, reaching for the platter of spaghetti, Tom knocked over the water pitcher." Something more or less among the lines of that.
