x-intercept is where the graph crosses the x-axis.  ON the x-axis, the y value is zero.  
Here the graph crosses the x-axis at x = -10 and x = -20.  
Therefore, at x =-10 and x = -20, which are temperatures in degree Celsius, the y value, which is the number of insect larvae, is zero.
