What is the value of x? http://static.k12.com/bank_packages/files/media/mathml_f6c30204abbbe2d8404000cf28ce676a35c2c4fb_1.gif

OpenStudy (zpupster):

x/6-5=13 add 5 to both sides then multiply both sides by 6 x=?

@zpupster

OpenStudy (zpupster):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get it

OpenStudy (zpupster):

x/6-5=13 we want to find x so we need to isolate on one side of the equation. lets add 5 to both sides so we keep it equal x/6-5+5=13+5 x/6=18 now we mult by 6 both sides (x/6)*6= 6*18------ 6 in denominator and numerator cancel x=108 plug it in and check it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x = 108

OpenStudy (zpupster):

you tell me plug it in and check it

@zpupster

OpenStudy (zpupster):

it is best you post problems indivually but i will do one more as an example

OpenStudy (zpupster):

(12+4n)/3=8 so mult both by 3 12+4n=24 then subtract both by 12 4n=12 then we divide both by 4 n=3 plug it in and check it you need to practice these to get good at them
