How do we find equivalent ratios

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

ratios are like fractions. 2:3 is also written as 2/3. So you basically find equivalent ratios just like you find equivalent fractions. For example : 4:5 (also written as 4/5) an equivalent fraction can be found by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same number. 4/5 * 2/2 = 8/10 ..... 8/10 is equivalent to 4/5....or 8:10 is equivalent to 4:5 4/5 * 3/3 = 12/15 ... 12/15 is equivalent to 4/5...or 12:15 is equivalent to 4:5 just be sure and multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number, or the results will not produce an equivalent fraction...or ratio.
