OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write the equation of a line in slope intercept form that is perpendicular to the line y = –4x and passes through the point (2, 6).

OpenStudy (imstuck):

What does it mean for two lines to be perpendicular? what does that tell you about their slopes?

OpenStudy (valpey):

One useful note: The slopes of two perpendicular lines will be "Negative Reciprocals" of one another. http://www.mathwords.com/n/negative_reciprocal.htm Also, the ordered pair (x,y) = (2,6) will need to be a solution to the equation of the second line.
