What is 2(8+24) or how do you solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distribute 2 to the inside of the parenthesis. So 2 x 8 and 2 x 24, then add the two solutions together

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

First, you need to do order of operations. Order of Operations is PEMDAS. Parenthesis. Exponents. Multiplication/Division Addition/Subtraction. As we see, you first must do whats in the parenthesis, so 8+24. 8+24=32 Now, the equation is 2(32). Multiply 2 by 32 to get your answer. Welcome to Openstudy!
