the meter is defined as the distance travelled by light in 1/299792458 seconds. why people do not choose some easier number such as 1/3000000000 second ? why not 1 second ?

OpenStudy (anas.p):

Because we did choose the number. We just calculated it. Listen, we found out that the speed of light is 2.99792458 meters per second, and not 300000000 (by the way you got an extra zero) Which means light travels 1 meter in 1/2.99792458 sec. Also, while calculating stuff, we use Speed of light as 300000000m/s and not 299792458. We Round of.
