MIT 6.00 Intro Computer Science (OCW) 15 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

I started ocw 6.00 and am officially lost. I don't want to give up but the lectures do not explain many of the symbols used and I am an absolute beginner. I don't even know where to start for ps1 as I have no clues what functions are built into python. Can anyone give me some recommendations?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

6.00 assumes some basic programming skill. They made a different class to go side by side with it for absolute beginners. However, there are other ways to get past this. For example, watch the first 10 to 15, short videos on Python here: https://buckysroom.org/videos.php?cat=36

Which one are you doing? 6.00SC spring 2011 is the one best suited for self study. Do watch the videos and also the recitation videos. Its probably very simple things you miss, so don't hesitate to ask anything you don't get for there is a first time for even the simplest things, which might be just the little piece of info that might get you going

Go to the following URL ( http://www.codecademy.com/en/tracks/python), this will help with understanding python.
