(x+4y=6) (5x+3y=-4) can someone please teach me how to solve this by elimination.

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

So, first, with the elimination method, you must ask yourself, "What variable do I want to kill first?". So, which one do you want to get rid of? Y or X?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would send the 6 and -4 back in to the formulas for starters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im so lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+4=6 turns in to x+4-6 which is x-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+3y= -4 <====> 5x+3y+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now you have (x-2) (5x+3y+4) can you keep going?
