Solve the following equation. Check your answer. -3c - 12= -5 + c

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

@Destinymasha @kirbykirby @jim_thompson5910 @HelpBlahBlahBlah

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

add 3c to both sides of the equation and you get -12 = -5 + 4c now add 5 to both sides of the equation and divide the answer by 4. That will be the value of c

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

so the next step is add 5 to both side right @campbell_st

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

that's correct... what do you get..?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

-7 + 4c

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Now I divide 4 to both sides right??

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

just check it's -7 = 4c.... now divide both sides by 4

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

I get 1.75 =c

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Is that right ^^??

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I think it should be -1.75 = c

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

whoops forgot the negative

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

thanks

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

that's it... you can substitute it back into the equation so see it's the correct value
