MEDALS WILL BE REWARDED For a concert, there were 206 more tickets sold at the door than were sold in advance. The tickets sold at the door cost $10 and the tickets sold in advance cost $6. The total amount of sales for both types of tickets was $6828. How many of EACH type of ticket was sold?

your profile picture is my google picture!

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

SO first you need to put all your information into equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i dont know what numbers go where in the equations

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

lets call the number of tickets sold at the door X and the number of tickets sold in advanced Y okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay that makes sense

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Now lets make some equations. You were given that there were 206 more tickets sold at the door than in advanced so the equation should be x+206=y right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay sounds good

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Then they also tell you that its $10 for a ticket at the door and $6 for a ticket in advanced and they made a total of $6828. Now to make that into an equation it would look like: 10x+6y=6828

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh ok

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

So now you must either do elimination or substitution or matrices

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Do you know how to go from here or do you need more help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i got it now thank you so much

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Welcome! :) Glad to have helped!
