Can someone help explain limits and how to find if a limit exists the old fashioned way in a Calc III level? Please Please Please.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

A limit exists as long as the function is continuous. If it's not continuous, there is no limit. Also, a limit can only exist if the right hand limit is the same as the left hand limit. what else do you need to know? That's the very bare bones basics. Beginning calc.

Yes I know but I need help with concepts such as using three variables where you may need to use paths and traces or use substitution of polar coordinates. It's very weird
