Medal for best answer! How are families of functions useful? I know that a family of functions is a set of functions whose equations have a similar form, and the parent of the functions is the equation in the simplest form, but how would you say that they are useful?

I said this: "Families of functions are useful because they help us determine what functions on the graph are similar to the others which allows us to groups the lines based off their similar equations." Does anyone agree that this makes sense?
