Why was the development of iron working important to civilizations? It usually coincided with the development of more superior culture and population growth. It usually coincided with the invention of farming, which led to an increase in food production. It usually allowed a society to be more self sufficient so they did not need to rely on trade. It usually allowed a society to become more permanent and settle in one location.
