ok so i have an idea for openstudy!


what if, if people would like face to face help on here, openstudy could add video chat!!! it could be from 2 people or more, like if it was a subject a group of people didnt know, or if they really need help face to face. what do you guys think?

This system would need heavy moderation or else it would inevitably be abused. We have enough issues with webcam programs as it is. Implementing one on OpenStudy seems like you're asking for trouble.

Now, we do have an idea we may implement in the future called "Qualified Helpers," where you call a helper to your session. Or, "Direct Session," where the user can use blackboard and voice. It's an idea with a lot of good intent behind it, but there are a lot of people who may abuse it.

same here tbh, but when your talking about kids ages 12 and less...this isnt always the best thing. yesterday i went to my friends house, she was telling me that kids are dating in 3rd and 4th grade...whats worse? THEY EVEN CHEAT AT THAT AGE!!!!! lol i was surprised too xD

There were people that used TinyChat for something like this. However, it ended up causing problems for OpenStudy in two ways.

First, there were some fights that happened in TC that spilled back to OS. Second, there were some nudity issues that involved minors so some very serious crimes happened that could hut down a site.

Not exactly great things to have happen.

Yes. The sad thing is, they do not realize what bad things a cheating environment sets them up for.

Imagine if medical doctors cheated and did not learn what was really needed. Or mechanical engineers. Mistakes in these professions have mead to deaths. If people cheat, then they know less. That leads to more mistakes.

Now, I do not completely blame the kids. The way material is presented is exceptionally boring. There is a lot of pressure to be able to pass tests that have little to know real world value but your ability to get a job or into college is dependent on the tests. All kids reach the point where they are rushed t move on in a topic before they really understand it, which leads to later problems. Those are just three examples of many problems with education today.

Ah.. LOL. Well, dating in younger ages leads to other problems and less learning. More so for females than males. I can go into the neuroscience of this, but the short form is due to emotions and memory in females being different than in males. So any girls below 23 that are dating are causing themselves problems in education and the further before 23 it is the worse it is. (In males the age is 25, so the females do mature faster.)

You could also do a particular set of people to do the blackboard+call, similar to what you do with ambassadors. I imagine you would have to be of a certain smart score. People who are 99 are less likely to abuse it than people who re 59, if that makes sense. I'm not saying people are untrustworthy, but I feel that people with 99 smart scores show that they genuinely want to help and are familiar with the site and the users.
