What is the y-intercept of the line? y = -3x

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

The equation y=mx+b tells you a lot. m is the slope of the function, and b is the y-intercept. In the case that you've shown, what is the y-intercept?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already know that y=mx+b but if their is nothing after x then I don't know if their is a y-intercept. Would it be 0?

@JonnyVonny

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Lol, sorry. So, if there is nothing by x, that means its 0... +0.

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

So yes, you're right, the y intercept is at (0,0)

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Try this: what point is the y intercept y= 50x+6
