The picture above is of a statue created by the Olmec civilization, an ancient civilization that was found in Central America. The head is thought to represent a god or ruler and is about nine feet tall. After finding sculptures like this one, what assumption did archaeologists first make about the Olmec? that they were a relatively recent civilization that they were the first civilization to develop art in the Americas that they were the most advanced of known ancient civilizations that they were the mother culture of all civilizations
