|x+48|<67 I got (-inf, 19) U (-115, inf) but it says 'overlapping intervals' what did I do wrong???

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hey Britt c: Umm... let's see...

zepdrix (zepdrix):

\[\Large\rm |x+48|\lt 67\]\[\Large\rm \pm(x+48)\lt 67\] So we have two cases here:\[\Large\rm x+48\lt 67\]\[\Large\rm -(x+48)\lt 67\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

The first one gives us: \(\Large\rm x \lt 19\) Mmmm ok good you have that.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

In the second case, when we move the negative across the inequality, it flips:\[\Large\rm x+48\gt -67\]And we end up with:\[\Large\rm x\gt-115\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So if we put that onto a number line:|dw:1412297492109:dw|

zepdrix (zepdrix):

|dw:1412297642757:dw|And we in this direction from 19
