Can someone please analyze and support what this political humor means?> "It's ironic because Republicans always wanted to appeal to minorities. Now they are one." Please provide the the background that this joke is refering to.

well its saying that the republicans wanted to be appreciated by minority classes and now the republicans are a minority and no one appreciates them
