Use the Distributive Property and simplify the expression. 4 + 2(3x – 1) + 9 A. 6x + 11 B. 6x + 15 C. 3x + 14 D. 5x + 14
Distribute the 2 and multiply each term in the parentheses with 2
I don't understand........ :/
go back and review the lesson. You can't do this problem without understanding distribution/multiplication
My lesson doesn't explain this part very well. I do the lesson twice if I dont understand. If I STILL dont understand then I come here.
then google distribution. purplemath should have a lesson on it. 4 pages. everything you need to know
Distribution is basically this: if there is a number outside of the parenthesis, then you "distribute" by multiplying that number by everything inside the parenthesis. In this case, you're multiplying 2 by 3x and then multiplying 2 by -1 it'll end up being 6x-2
and then you add the other numbers from there
Thank you! I get it now, @maysa13 . Thank youuuuu
