OpenStudy (nickymail48):

7x+5.71=4x+10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

collect like terms 7x-4x=10-5.71 simplify 3x=4.29 divide both side by 3 to solve for x x=1.43

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to get x by itself

OpenStudy (nickymail48):

yah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you bring the coefficients to one side and the x's on one side first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 's would be one the left side lets say and the number values on the other side

OpenStudy (nickymail48):

ok so how do you line up 5.71 and 10 to get answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want to balance everything out so what you do one one side you do to the other so to bring the x value over to the left you would subtract 4x to bring it over to the left and it cancels out then to bring the 5.71 to the right you would subtract it from the left and subtract it on the right

|dw:1412377004934:dw| so it would look like this
