So, I tend not to go to OS for questions like this, but since this one is more than a little undergrad-ish, this seems like the most suitable area to observe it in. Hopefully i can get some decent responses. For a few years, I've been studying string theory and mainly theoretical physics in general. I've succeeded in ignoring the AbS/CFT correspondence and not touching on it no matter what. Obviously I've reached the point where I have to know some stuff. The past few weeks when playing with a few equations in my spare time I noticed that I cannot for the life of me figure out how the...

...holographic duality relates to the QFT energy scale. Anyone know how to explain this? I'd love to see an answer that doesn't throw the equations at me quite yet considering I've managed to screw up my learning of this by focusing on bits and pieces of QFT rather than 100% of it like I should have.
