A ball is thrown horizontally from a 20-m-high building with a speed of 5.0m/s a. Draw a graph of Vx, the vetical velocity, as a function of time. b. Draw a graph of Vy, the vertical velocity, as a function of time.

|dw:1412475485785:dw| Part (b) involves some work. Gravity will influence the object and cause it to speed up. The initial speed vertically is 0 though. The object will accelerate and gain 9.8 m/s every second it falls. For 20 m: 20 = 1/2 * 9.8 * t^2 t = 2.02 s So the object will gain velocity steadily at a rate of 9.8 m/s for the extent of its fall (2 s roughly). |dw:1412476008146:dw|
