what is the graph of -3x-8y=24?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Put it into slope-intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly have no idea how to do that.... My teacher doesn't help me...

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

That means put it into y = mx + b form

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

The "m" would be the slope, b would be y intercept (where it crosses the y axis)

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

So, isolate the y.

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

-3x-8y=24 -8y = 3x + 24 y = -3/8x - 8

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

so, the graph should have a y int of -8. It has a negative slope of -3/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhh... Ok I get it now. Thank you so much :D

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

No problem, but I mae a mistake, it should be y = -3/8x - 3

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

So the y int is -3 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah ok, thank you Cx
