Tabitha is riding her bike at 27 ft/sec. Franklin is riding his bike at 17 mph. Who is going faster?

OpenStudy (gorv):

we need to convert the unit of speed

OpenStudy (gorv):

1mile=5280 feet

OpenStudy (gorv):

and for converting hour in second divide by 3600

OpenStudy (gorv):

\[\frac{ 5280*17 }{ 3600}=franklin speed\]

OpenStudy (gorv):

solve it and compare

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so multiply by 17 to get feet per hr. Then divide by 60 to get feet per minute, and again by 60 to get feet per second. Then you know Tabitha is faster.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

60 mph = 88 fps 30 mph = 44 fps 15 mph = 22 fps You don't ALWAYS have to calculate things exactly. You should ALWAYS show YOUR work.

OpenStudy (gorv):

multiply by 5280 to get feet /hr thn by 60 to get feet/ min thn by 60 to get ft/sec

thanks you so much .
