what is the value of x and y? 5x +5y=16 and 2x+2y=5

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

If you graph those two equations, do the resulting lines intersect? If they do, the coordinates of the point of intersection are the values of x and y. If the two lines do not intersect, there is no solution. If the two lines are coincident (identical), then there are an infinite number of combinations of x and y which are solutions. Easy way to graph a line such as this: plug in x=0 and find the value of y. Mark (0,y) on your paper. Now plug in y=0 and find the value of x. Mark (x,0) on your paper. Draw a straight line through the two points, and you are done.
