what was the purpose of the Quartering Act

OpenStudy (kohai):

the purpose was to allow Britain to keep a standing army in the colonies without having to pay too much. they wanted to intimidate colonists and let them know they were right there, so they shouldn't try anything funny with them around. Also, this occured in the New England colonies, mostly in Massachusetts, where most of the rebellions and uprisings started.
