At the outdoor market, Craig Wang sells string beans for $1.99 a pound. The beans cost $0.89 a pound to grow. What is the markup rate based on cost, to the nearest tenth of a percent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add it... then divide by 10 percent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is no 10 percent in that question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you said to the nearest tenth of a percent same thing lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No that's not the same thing, that just means you're not rounding the percent up to the nearest whole number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well its either 2.8 or 2.88 idk so 2.90?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause i did 1.99+ 0.89 and got 2.8 but then i divided it by 10% and got 2.88

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's not how you should be figuring out this problem though..
