2x3 +x2- 18x - 9 do it in parts (2x3+x2) factor out the x2 x2(2x + 1) then (-18x-9) factor out the -9 -9(2x+1) so (x2-9)(2x+1) we recognize that (x2-9) is the differnce of 2 squares, x and 9 the middle terms +3x and -3x cancel so (x-3)(x+3)(2x+1) that is one way to do these
