OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can i prove(1-cosx)/(sinx) =tan(x/2)?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i always start by turning everyting into sin and cos parts, then find an identity that will get me on my way

OpenStudy (gorv):

if u remember cos2x = 2cox^2x-1

OpenStudy (gorv):

and sin2x=2*sinx*cosx

OpenStudy (gorv):

but here angle is just x not 2x

OpenStudy (gorv):

sinx =2*sin(x/2)*cos(x/2)

OpenStudy (gorv):

cosx=2cos^2(x/2)-1

OpenStudy (gorv):

so put these values of sinx and cosx in ur Q and u will get it
