also, this is the information that I was given to work with: Margaret Fuller, an American journalist, was a strong advocate for women's rights during the early part of the nineteenth century. She believed in the importance of education for women, and the importance of women working outside the home. In her book Woman in the Nineteenth Century (1845) she said: "What woman needs is not as a woman to act or rule, but as a nature to grow, as an intellect to discern, as a soul to live freely, and unimpeded to unfold such powers as were given her when we left our common home." Think about the women writers you studied in this unit. Would they agree or disagree with Fuller's statement? Use the chart to make notes on your ideas about each writer and ways in which she would agree or disagree with Fuller. Go back to review the earlier units as needed.
