OpenStudy (micahm):

what was the purpose for openstudy to be a learning site? and why some people don't use it the right way and why the cuss? also i like openstudy but people need to use it correctly

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The purpose, in short, is to make a safe place on the internet for studying and tutoring. As for why people cuss on a study site, I would have to go into origins and trends in antisocial behavior. It takes about 3 classes to get the basics down.

OpenStudy (micahm):

ok could you make a new rule of conduct

OpenStudy (micahm):

i think this site would be better if the words people write are nice polite and not nasty

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

There is no need for anew rule. It is already one.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

There already is that rule c: http://prntscr.com/4tpgn9 You can check out all the rules here: http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If you look at the top of the code Cam linked, the first code there: be nice. We do suspend people for failing to do so. Even in chat. Even the users that contribute a lot of proper tutoring on the site have fallen afoul of that rule and been suspended.

OpenStudy (micahm):

yes i know but it not being reinforce i like this site a lot this is were kid and parents get help so if you can take that to mind in the feature that would be great

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

We enforce it as much as we can. We do not have the ability to be everywhere at once, so a lot of violations are not seen by moderators. On top of that, many people fail to report it when they see people being nasty.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

It is being enforced by people like @tkhunny but then everyone hates him for that...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Man there is like 10 people viewing this question...

OpenStudy (micahm):

can you have undercover people like you guys do it

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Everone went off @tkhunny for giving suspensions.. http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54320bdae4b032bb1c8371d7

OpenStudy (micahm):

ask the boss this would make the site a better place to be on and parents won't get mad and kid's will learn manners

OpenStudy (micahm):

if you know what i mean

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I agree..

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

micahm, what you are saying makes no sense. You are saying we need to make a rule that already exists and enforce it even though we already are. Doing what is already being done will not cause a change. What would be needed is a better way to detect and block the hackers that contribute to the problem. If you have the code experience to do that, I am sure they would happily take some suggestions o how to do so.

OpenStudy (micahm):

there is a couple of people on that i am not going to name that are hackers

OpenStudy (micahm):

ok when a person sign up for openstudy what do you ask them?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I am not surewhy you are asking that. You signed up. You saw what was asked. So...

OpenStudy (micahm):

add more question to that and also as you all have a staff meeting right so when you have all you staff meeting review or make rerecords of all the people on openstudy ...

OpenStudy (micahm):

also i have been telling people on this site that you need to follow the rules and they listen so maybe each mouth have a check up with the staff or your boss

OpenStudy (micahm):

clean + people = respect x nasty = zero people on site but if you hold a meeting secretly more people will pure and like this site

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

You misunderstand what moderators are. We do not work for OpenStudy. We are just volunteers that help keep it clean. The actual staff element of OpenStudy is pretty small. It is not a high dollar site that makes tons off of auctions or sales. It is an underfunded educational project.

myininaya (myininaya):

You notice that people have to agree to the terms of conditions and the code of conduct before applying for an OpenStudy account. We expect people to honor that word, but sometimes people do not. And moderators catch what they can and reinforce the rules they see broken. There are users out there who help us do that by using the report button and we thank you guys for that. Also I see someone brought up @tkhunny. @tkhunny is a moderator and has a right to enforce the rules when she/he sees them broken. It doesn't matter if she/he is seen as more strict or is more strict than some. The point is if you break a rule don't expect nothing to happen. Moderators do sometimes act different so if I were a rule breaker I should go ahead and expect the worse for my troubling behavior on OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (micahm):

right who's the owner of this site

OpenStudy (micahm):

does anyone know

myininaya (myininaya):

You can refer to the about us page http://openstudy.com/about-us where you see Preetha and Ashwin are co-founders who currently are administrators of OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And there is a contact link on the top of that page so you can email the company as well.

OpenStudy (micahm):

does that give me there contact information ok is like an emial like aol or what ever email they got

OpenStudy (micahm):

also when are then on

OpenStudy (micahm):

does that tell me when there on also

OpenStudy (micahm):

i will take a look and get back with you again some time

OpenStudy (micahm):

thank you for your help and have a wonderful day or night

OpenStudy (micahm):

can i join the partner ship with openstudy

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@myininaya . I brought up @tkhunny up becasue he enforces the rules to make OS better but then everyone hates him for doing that. I do not agree that @tkhunny is mean. I believe he is doing his job well. When you have some sort of authority not everyone loves it.

OpenStudy (micahm):

can i join the partner ship with openstudy i would love to help

OpenStudy (micahm):

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
