OpenStudy (donblue22):

Possible addition of more subjects? Could we possibly add an earth science subject? If anyone has any ideas for other subjects they want added just commend below and hopefully we can get some of them added.

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

Earth space science isn't a bad idea, @Preetha @e.mccormick @Compassionate

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I would love to just see a few big catch alls. We have Social Science, which covers a wide range of things from law to sociology to communications. A Physical Sciences catch all would also be nice. Then homeless questions in a wide range of topics would have a place to live.

OpenStudy (donblue22):

I got the idea because I saw somone post and earth science question in math and then I relized there was no proper subject to put it in

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

If there is earth science there would need to be: Physical Science Life Science And Earth Science In my opinion there should be a Science Subject with a lot of sub topics c:

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

yup

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The Physical Sciences includes Earth Science.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Oh cx

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The Sciences as categories Formal: Math, Logic, etc. Physical: Physics, Chem, Astronomy, Earth, etc. Life: Biology, zoology, etc. Social: Sociology, Law, Communications, etc. Applied: Engineering, Computers, Healthcare And the overlap catch all of Interdisciplinary Sciences.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Between those, History, Philosophy, and perhaos a couple others, you can cover every topic.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Hippocampus religion overlaps some Earth Science, too.

OpenStudy (fateal):

lel ik that not everyone might want it, but i do :P dark magic <3 devils demons xD i want to learn more about them, doesnt mean that everyone does ;o will thats the topic that i want ^w^

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

How about a health subject?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

There already is one.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

There is?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep. Search for Health Sciences. You will find it.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

We should also make an Etc section for like questions that don't fit into any other section...

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Oh cause I have thrush. so idk

OpenStudy (fateal):

@TheSmartOne YES!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

@TheSmartOne That is a good idea.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Thanks y'all. I have been having that idea for quite a while now...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Becasue I see questions that do not belong anwwhere so they end up in irrelevant topics..

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Yea

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

What else?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

I have seen TOO many users posting Earth Science questions in Bio, Chem, English, Mathematics(you get the gist), and so basically these questions are not having the place they need to be answered(an Earth Science section). I have no idea why this section wasn't made as Earth science is a huge part of Elementary/Middle school. But I think it has been long due past

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

There already is an earth science section.

OpenStudy (crissy15):

how bout a subject bout careers, like mine is law, but there's no section.....

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Ilovecake No, there is a "Geography" section, which is sadly misconstrued as meaning Earth Sciences. Geography is an overlapping field between part of Earth Sciences and part of Social Sciences. A Physical/Hard Sciences would be a good catch all for Earth and more, but Earth Sciences would not be a bad choice. I just wish they had made a small list of top categories and put everything below them as sub categories. It would be much easier to select what to track that way.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Crissy15 Law is one of the Social Sciences, so there is a catch all for that.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

@e.mccormick No I know there is a geography section. BUT there is also the Earth Science section.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Ilovecake Use "Find More Subjects" and try and find it.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

I already have it.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, it does not show up for anyone else, so I don't know how you found it.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

I have it.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Then link it.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

How do I do THAT

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Go to the URL; Hightlight it; Right click; click copy; come here in the comment box; right click; click paste.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Ok

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Earth Sciences

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

ohhhhh wait a minute.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Like this: http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/OpenStudy%20Feedback

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

There is a geography http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/Geography

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

There is health sciences but no earth sciences...

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I like the idea about etc. section. @TheSmartOne

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

How about a language section...

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@TheSmartOne you mean: http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/Language%20and%20Culture ??

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Oh nevermind @e.mccormick sorry.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hehe. It happens. There are tons that people rarley see.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Sorry I mixed it all up. You were right I thought the health science was earth science. @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

I mean @e.mccormick

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, that was an un-healthy mistake.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Yes real funny.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Some good, ol' down to earth pun... I mean fun.

OpenStudy (ilovecake):

Idk why but I got earth and health mixed up.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If you are Asian there is the l-r confusion. And it might be just due to seeing earth questions show up in health.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ XD

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

How about a feedback section where people need others feedback and suggestion..

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

How about a debate section??

OpenStudy (donblue22):

We need to get preetha to look at this if we want anything to actually happen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the "hippocampus religion" topics anyway?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

http://www.hippocampus.org/ They had a bunch of sections on here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool, thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would like an "art section", I know there's the art history one and design, but what about simple painting, drawing, advices about quality colours etc.?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I think the design section is no longer just design and could be renamed Art and Design.

OpenStudy (donblue22):

Thats a good idea @e.mccormick now we just need @Preetha to see this thread

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Your puns @e.mccormick cx

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

lol

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@camerondoherty I try. People tell me I am very trying.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

@Camerondoherty , don't encourage him.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Compassionate are you saying that people should not incorrige me because I am very incorrigible?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Don't worry @e.mccormick We still support you. Someday you two should settle it out.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

@e.mccormick I just have this irrational fear that one day you're going to gain such a huge following, that you'll untie with morlb leaders... Then you'd really be incorrigible.

OpenStudy (preetha):

Why don't you use the Geography group for Earth Sciences? Should I change the name from Geography to Earth Sciences?

OpenStudy (donblue22):

@Preetha Yes that would probably help because I personally didnt even notice that the Geography subject existed and when people want help with Earth Science they look for a Earth Science subect usually.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Preetha Earth/Geo Siences would be far more general than Geography.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

^^

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

That way even oif they start to type in Geology, it will pop up for the first 3 letters.

OpenStudy (donblue22):

Maybe Earth/Space/Geo Sciences?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, a lot of space stuff is not going to be in Geo topics. There is a lot of physics to that.

OpenStudy (donblue22):

Actually how about physical science that would cover all of them

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Only if it had sub topics that showed up in the search. Otherwise people will search for Geology, Earth, or some term like that and not find it, so post elsewhere.

OpenStudy (preetha):

I am thinking of Earth Sci & Geo. What do you think?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

That covers the searches and the topics nice and broadly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking that maybe there can be different languages added, like French, German, etc. and not just Spanish.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Why don't we just ad subjects we might need in the future..

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

^^^^

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@dragonmaster917 There is a language section for all languages.

OpenStudy (leonardo0430):

dont forget swedish language thats the most important thing you know >_>

OpenStudy (natsent06):

Social studies

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

There is a Social Sciences section.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can u guys add french pls

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

There is a Language and Culture section that covers all languages.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lmao

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Now, having several sub groups in there for the main languages of study... that would be nice.

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Another good one would be "Other" in case someone needs help with something that we don't have a group for.....idk though

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

I like the "other" idea, @haleyelizabeth2017 but I think that people would just post random things on it...sort of like they do on feedback.
